About
I am Marcia Villalba, a software engineer ๐ฉโ๐ป from Uruguay ๐บ๐พ living in Helsinki ๐ซ๐ฎ. I have been working over 15 years in the IT industry, doing all kind of things related to software development. I am part of the 1% of hispanic women in computer science, a minority in the minorities.
Nowadays I work as an AWS Developer Advocate, helping developers bring their ideas to life in the cloud.
Before I worked as a full-stack developer at Rovio and also I have my own consultancy company (https://unicorn.codes) Unicorn.codes ๐ฆ, where I was helping companies to migrate to serverless either by providing education or by providing actual hands-on solutions.
Coding and sharing with others are my passion. I love learning new things and tinkering with different technologies and frameworks.
Because of that I host my Youtube channel called FooBar (http://bit.ly/foobar-youtube), in which I publish at least one new video every week. At FooBar, I focus on teaching how to use AWS serverless technologies and managed services.
In addition, I have published lots of Serverless courses ๐in English ๐ฌ๐ง and Spanish ๐ช๐ธ.
Before joining AWS, I was an AWS Serverless Hero (https://aws.amazon.com/heroes/), Serverless Champion (https://serverless.com/community/champions/), one of the organizers at the Finland AWS User Group (https://www.meetup.com/awsfin/) and one of the main organizers of the conference Serverless Days Helsinki (https://helsinki.serverlessdays.io/).
